(2) I really love healthy eating but I haven’t shared a lot about it on this blog yet
(3) These smoothies are so cute and trendy (bet you didn’t know a smoothie could be trendy).
These smoothies will bring some much needed color and sunshine to gloomy winter days. They even taste like summer! In each post I will give the ingredients and toppings that I used. I don’t give a specific amount of the liquids because the amount you use depends on your desired consistency. I will also include a little health fact about one of the ingredients in each smoothie. Enjoy!
1. Pitaya (Dragon Fruit) Smoothie Bowl
Health food: Pitaya
Pitaya, also known as dragon fruit, has some pretty amazing health benefits. I mean with dragon in the name, how could it not? Pitaya has a very high level of vitamin C which is great for your immune system. Additionally, pitaya has almost no bad cholesterol or saturated fats which will leave you with health benefits that will last. Bonus benefit: It also helps digestion!
2. Strawberry Banana Smoothie
Health food: Banana
Bananas are probably one fruit that you are very familiar with, but did you know they loaded with vitamins and minerals like potassium, calcium, manganese, magnesium, and iron? No wonder monkeys like them!
3. Summer Smoothie Bowl
Health food: Chia Seeds
When you hear chia you probably imagine chia pets, a somewhat corny terracotta figurine covered in chia plants, but these little seeds have nutritional value you could only dream of. Chia seeds are a great plant-based protein source and are high in antioxidants. They were known as a runners’ food by the Mayans because runners and warriors would use them as fuel during long distance runs or during battle.
