Bonjour mes amies! On August 21, I experienced my vegiversary (a word I came up with mashing together vegetarian and anniversary). I am so happy to say that I have been fully meat-free for a year and I have never felt better. In the future, I will do more posts about why I decided to eat this way, my favorite recipes, and Q&A’s. Today, in honor of one year as a vegetarian, I will write some of my thoughts and post a what I eat in a day♥
Three Words To Describe My Experience: Fun, Experimental, Grateful
My Favorite Vegetarian Food: A delicious veggie burger or an açaí bowl
Thoughts? I had been considering going vegetarian or vegan for a long time, but I didn’t think I was capable of doing it. One day, I decided to take the leap and try it out. I didn’t know when I started that I would come so far.
Is it hard to avoid meat when eating out? Most of the time it is not too hard to find something vegetarian. In fact, I discovered new food items that I never knew existed, because I was forced to try foods outside of my comfort zone. My parents and friends are incredibly supportive which helps a lot.
Do I ever miss meat? I have found so many substitutes and other types of food that I don’t miss it very much. The first week meat-free was extremely difficult, but after that it becomes just another part of your life.
Will I continue being vegetarian? Yes, I love feeling healthy and knowing that I have not contributed to the death of any animals. I love animals so much, and I could no longer justify to myself why it was ok to kill some animals, like cows and chickens, in cruel ways just for meat. I have no hate towards people who eat meat, you should be able to choose whatever diet you wish 🙂
